Beeches

We headed to Burnham Beeches (beech trees) again. We had a great walk/ bike ride in the balmy 58 degree weather. It was one of the nicest days to date.

Half Term

Tom had a few days off and the kids enjoyed their half term (week off). We went to Odds Farm. This is the local farm with lots of playgrounds, a maze, a sack slide and hay stacks to climb. Kids enjoyed the goats, sheep and ducks. There was even a "kid" born the morning that we were there. Our kids thought that the baby was cute.
We planned to visit York and experience the Viking Fest but Anastasia got the flu. So we stayed here. We watched movies, ate popcorn and made things out of legos. I even found time to finish hemming the curtains, by hand. My skill is really improving. After 6 panels, you could not see the blind stitch! :)
We did make it to RAF Alconbury. We went bowling and Joe got his first STRIKE. Ana had fun, pushing the ball down the slide. It was a fun taste of America!

Natural History Museum

We went to the Natural History Museum today. The trip in itself was an adventure. We took the tube which was partially down for renovations and due to weather. Then we met the "football" (soccer) fans who were dressed in costumes, more than tipsy and having a great time celebrating. Joe kept asking why they were singing so loudly. :)
Joe and Anastasia did not enjoy the lines (Ques) but both enjoyed the exhibits: creepy crawlies, animal, dinosaur remains, human biology, and sea animals. There was a lot to see and do. Ana wanted to go back and see the blood- they were showing how they examined it for viruses.
There was also a huge Darwin exhibit. It was quite interesting: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/whats-on/darwin/

More snow

The kids are quite excited as we had no school again today (Friday). The kids only went on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. We got ice due to the thunderstorms and it made the the roads and sled track quite slick.

We at least have electricity, but others are without and lots of trees are down. (Nothing like AR, but a big deal for here.)

Figure "8" Course

We made a figure "8" snow track and Tom and I pulled the kids on the orange sled. (The one that the neighbors said we would never use.) We even built a ramp and the kids got a bit of air. It was a great work out for us and the kiddos had fun.

The big snow

Tom and I jumped out of bed around 5 AM whens we heard a huge crash- it was just the snow falling off the roof. London area had record snow fall and it continued all day. Joe and Ana's schools cancelled and Ana is off tomorrow. We are still waiting to hear about Joe's school.

It was about 6-8 inches and still falling. We all had a ball- snow ball that is!

The Lego Master

Joe has been perfecting his lego skills. He has really gotten good at following lego instructions and creating his own master pieces. He is really into planes, fighters, and spaceships. He and Anastasia spent some time building and explaining the process. Princess Ana was there for support.
