Double Assembly Jan 2010

Joe and Anastasia were both presenting at Assembly. Tom was in town and we were proud of them both.
Joe described his wind up toy that he made, while Ana told about her writing. Joe was a playground helper today and Anastasia received an award for most improvement reading and writing. She is now reading which is amazing.

Her teacher said that it finally just clicked.

Jan 17th - Anastasia is 5!!

We started off with french toast casserole with the party candle. We headed to church, had a nerf gun war with our visiting friend, Emily, went to church, the pub and had roast, and topped this off with birthday cake. We finished our big day by playing Mario again. Everyone is really improving!

Jungle Mania Party

Anastasia invited a few girlfriend's and we met at the local jump place. They had a great time. (we were even able to salvage the cupcakes, there was a minor incident where they fell). Anastasia had a great time with friends and family.

January Birthday weekend celebration

The kids finally went back to school and we are all having a great visit with Nana. Anastasia is sporting her new hair cut. WE decorated cup cakes for class and her friend's part and the cake for her actual family party.

Tom made it back this weekend and Anastasia is excited to celebrate her 5th birthday --all weekend.

Joe is having fun with Super Mario and Nana is pretty good at it, but she spends some time in the bubble. And Tom just ate Joe's player, oops.

Still snowing

We have pretty much been in the house and to the Beeches for the past 4 days. Friends of ours came over today, they were in a fender bender. Lisa who we took to the panto the other day was in a wreck, so, I think that we may simply stay put.

So, we have been painting nails, playing in the snow, building forts, playing wii and just hanging out. We are to be off until Tuesday as there is to be more snow......

Pantomime

We had yet another sn0w day. This day #3 for entertaining from home. Ugh. Anyway, we picked up friends in the suv and cruised along to the panto. It was Aladdin and the kids and I had fun. It was the first show for Anastasia and I. Joe has been once and is therefore a pro now! Here is a short explanation. http://www.lazybeescripts.co.uk/Panto.htm

I took pics of the kids that made it and was promplty told off for taking photos during intermission. Ugh. Aladdin who was 40 and still living with his mom (who was a man dressed as an old woman) was a soap star that was quite entertaining. He asked the audience if he should kiss the princes. Of course the boys yelled, NO! At other times, it was, behind you!!! One of the mom's next to us yelled, he was too old for Jasmine, too. We had a good time.

Snow in the Beeches

It was amazing that all of the schools were closed. However, the Burnham Beeches Cafe` was OPEN. In fact they sold a few of their trays to be used as sledges (sleds). It was quite a sight to see. Only in the UK would everything be shut down but the Beeches Cafe`. And yes, we were not the only crazy folk eating outside in the snow.

Burnham Beeches Sledging (sledding)

We got the call at 7am-- NO SCHOOL. The kids slept in until about 8:30 and we started getting ready for our sledding adventure. We headed out at 9.30 to the Burnham Beeches with the kids next door. We walked round trip, went down the big hills and visited the cafe. Our kids had ice cream as everyone else indulged in hot cocoa. We made it back around 1:30 for a rest and lunch.
Let me just add that we are now well equipped for such weather and did not get cold or wet like many hardy Brits! :)
