October Sky

After having watched the movie, October Sky, the kids built rockets. We are still waiting for the motors to come in before we can blast off. This was a good indoor, I do not feel well project. Will add more later...

Christmas Play

The kids have been in and out of school all week. There are a lot of bugs going around: chicken pox, fever, flu... Now, I too, have the crud. We are all going to the doctor today.

Here are a few clips of Joe as King Balthazar and Anastasia as a star. They both did great. I was apprehensive as the play took over an hour.

Christmas Fete

The kids visited Santa, played games: hoopla, lucky dip, snowball throw, had tattoos painted, decorated cookies, and made crafts. There was a food stall that ran out of hot dogs and hamburgers, but had plenty of veggie burgers. The main hall had a raffle, silent auction, home made cards, reindeer food, wine-- you choose one or three bottles, some are full of colored water and others with wine. A great game of chance. There was also a cake stall, guess the weight of the fruit cake, and other seasonal stalls. The PTA did well and everyone had a great time. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the kids with Santa, he looked good.

The Tree

We went after football to pick up a tree. Let me back up and say that after I payed for football and collected a muddy Joe, we headed to the nursery to pick out this years tree. With 5 pounds in my pocket, the kids and I looked at literally ALL of the tress. We tired out the chocolates, had some cocoa, petted the elves horse and finally chose one. We went to pay, handed our school voucher, and the man told me he did not accept credit cards. Oops. He did not want one of the kids for deposit :) He told me to come back in the morning and pay, and loaded up the tree. This year it fit in the car.

We had a good time decorating it. Anastasia did crush a few red ball ornaments, so the remaining ones are more evenly spread out. We played Christmas carols and decorated. Joe even vacuumed up the tree droppings.

Another one bites the dust!

Joe lost his second tooth. He now has a bit of a gap. For giggles, Tom put in the redneck instrument for tooth pulling. (Note: it was not needed for this operation)

Saturday Celebration

We celebrated thanksgiving on Saturday with a crowd. I cooked 3 turkey breast and one entire turkey on the Aga. It was just enough for the 24 of us. Everyone else brought the trimmings. A good time was had by all. We felt blessed to host everyone. We have so much to be thankful for: good food, friends, family, health and a warm house.
